Summary
The firmware version 17.00 A01.02 for TOBY-L2 modem series has been released by u-blox on March 22, 2023. NetModule has qualified the new firmware for use with NetModule products. The following NRSW releases are compatible with this firmware version:
- 4.6.0.105 or higher
- 4.7.0.103 or higher
NetModule strongly recommends updating the TOBY-L2 LTE modems with firmware version 17.00 A01.02.
Affected Products
All products with product options “-L”, “-Lbb” and “-Lg” for LTE Cat. 4 based on u-blox TOBY-L2xx modem are affected. Products using other cellular standards are not affected: e.g. LTE Advanced, LTE 450 MHz, GSM-R.
Product Change
The following issues have been fixed with firmware version 17.00,A01.02:
- Under certain operational states unwanted data transmission might have been caused. From mobile network operator’s point of view this unwanted data transmission might be identified as uplink interference.
- Under some high data throughput conditions, the response times of the modem to AT commands exceeded the expected values, leading to instability of the data connection.
- Trace logging was accidentally enabled by a certain AT command, leading to unnecessary high amount of data being stored on the modem file system.
All the afore mentioned issues may affect reliability and performance of the LTE data connection. Therefore, NetModule strongly recommends updating all TOBY-L2 LTE modems to firmware version 17.00,A01.02 for fixing these issues.
