Product Change Notice: LTE Modem Firmware Update to Version 17.00 A01.00

Summary

The firmware version 17.00 A01.00 for TOBY-L2 modem series has been released by u-blox on May 27, 2021. NetModule has qualified the new firmware for use with NetModule products. The following NRSW releases are compatible with this firmware version:

• 4.3.0.112 or higher
• 4.4.0.110 or higher
• 4.5.0.104 or higher
  

Affected Products

All products with product options “-L”, “-Lbb” and “-Lg” for LTE Cat. 4 based on u-blox TOBY-L2xx modem are affected.
Products using other cellular standards are not affected: LTE Advanced, LTE450MHz, CDMA450MHz, GSM-R.

Product Change

The following changes in the firmware of the modems are the most relevant for NetModule customers:

• eSIM/eUICC feature released with NRSW version 4.5. is now officially supported.
  If you have licensed the eSIM/eUICC feature of NRSW, please update the TOBY-L2 LTE modems with firmware version 17.00 A01.00.
• Some rare SIM card types were not recognized. Firmware version 17.00 allows to adapt the SIM bus speed for increased reliability of the communication with the SIM card.
  If you encounter problems with SIM cards not being recognized, please update the TOBY-L2 LTE modems with firmware version 17.00 A01.00
