The communication specialist NetModule presents its new NB800 E-Mark Router as a cost-effective solution for a robust on-board Internet connection in vehicles. Its modular design supports a wide range of protocols for the Internet of Things (IoT). NetModule has developed this router especially for cost-sensitive connectivity applications in combination with high volumes and thus also addresses OEM customers. The NB800 E-Mark enables many transport and industrial applications including remote access, condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, e-ticketing, passenger information systems, WiFi hotspots in vehicles and video surveillance.
The compact router (W 85/111mm x H 32mm x Depth 110mm, approx. 250g) integrates key technologies for all applications on the Internet and also for intranet sites and remote stations. The latter can be integrated via its powerful VPN protocol suite (including OpenVPN and IPsec). Key features include an integrated modem that supports MIMO LTE and ensures WWAN connectivity with up to 100 Mbps. WiFi IEEE 802.11abgn, Bluetooth Low Energy and USB offer further possibilities for easy integration of sensors/actuators into a network. An optional hardware shield concept provides additional flexibility to turn the NB800 into an application-specific, customized device (OEM) or to keep pace with technological change. Currently available are shields with dual CAN, digital I/O and serial interfaces, and soon a GNSS-Shield.
The NB800 E-Mark Router is a fanless device in a durable aluminium housing, suitable for wall mounting. Tests according to ECE type certification (E-Mark) and the supported temperature range (-40°C to +70°C) stand for mobility and robustness.
As with almost every NetModule router, the NB800 E-Mark allows customer applications to run in an LXC container separated from the operating system. The SDK (Software Development Kit) makes it possible to implement any application via simple scripts. So, the data processing can be carried out directly on the router, which saves an additional industrial PC.
