We offer the NB3800 rail router series with 5G-NR expansion, making your applications even more versatile with higher data rates and lower latency compared to 4G LTE. From the transmission of high-resolution video recordings from the vehicle, to video streaming for passengers, to the fast and - thanks to the extensive encryption methods in the NetModule router software - secure transmission of operational data from the vehicle to the cloud.

The leap in performance from LTE to 5G is achieved by combining various techniques. These are greater channel bandwidth (100 MHz), higher modulation order in both directions and MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output). While base stations have up to 64 receive and transmit antennas, terminals typically have fewer. The NB3800 supports 4x4 MIMO in the receive direction and 2x2 MIMO in the transmit direction in the stand-alone architecture. In practice, this quadruples the data rate in reception. In addition, the NB3800 also supports the non-stand-alone architecture and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS). Where no 5G coverage is available, the NB3800 switches to LTE, supporting the highest category. Meanwhile, scientists at the TU Darmstadt's Department of Automotive Engineering, in cooperation with the local transport company HEAG mobilio GmbH, were researching the automated and teleoperated driving of trams.
