Public transportation operators are constantly striving to improve the reliability and operational safety of their vehicles while reducing the cost of maintenance.
NetModule’s proven vehicle routers for used in public transit (UN ECE R10/EN 50155) provide a reliable network connection for vehicles via the mobile network, at the same time enabling the transmission of data from the status monitoring system to the central office.
Numerous interfaces such as CAN, RS-232, RS-485 and digital I/O ensure excellent interaction with on-board electronics. The devices are also suitable for analyzing passenger data, such as performing passenger counts. The collected data can also be stored locally on the built-in SSD and pre-processed directly by the router using the LXC (Linux container) technology. The integrated GNSS module lets the control center locate vehicles with pin-point accuracy.
And even before the data leave the on-board network, they can be prioritized according to importance using Quality of Service (QoS) routing. This ensures that the operating data of greatest relevance to the system always get top priority. State-of-the-art VPN technologies such as OpenVPN allow operating data to be transferred to the central office securely.
The sturdy routers meet the exacting requirements encountered in public transit in terms of temperature range (-40°C /-40°F to +85°C/+185°F), electromagnetic compatibility, safety, and fire protection. This makes them suitable for applications where mechanical stress, moisture, and condensation as well as dirt and soil are commonplace.
The NetModule Connectivity Suite management software is ideally equipped for managing and monitoring the routers themselves.
