To facilitate digital communications, routers used in this field are equipped with area-wide private LTE (eLTE) or WiFi networks so that all machines can be monitored or controlled centrally.
This enables operators to optimize operating costs, e.g. by predictive maintenance or through self-driving mining vehicles. At the same time, safety is improved, and environmental pollution is reduced.
NetModule products can be integrated into private LTE networks (eLTE), ad-hoc WiFi, or mesh networks to connect vehicles and machines. Often devices with railroad type approval (EN 50155), robust M12, TNC connectors, or automotive type approval (UN ECE R10/ISO 16750) are employed to withstand the particularly harsh requirements.
The necessary data connection is provided by NetModule’s routers using 4G/3G/2G or WiFi technology. The CAN, digital I/O, RS-232, and RS-485 interfaces can be used to read data from vehicle components, which can be evaluated directly on the router. A GNSS receiver with dead reckoning provides an exact vehicle position.
NetModule routers are designed for wide temperature ranges from -40°C /-40°F to +85°C/+185°F with IP69K protection against humidity and dust and vibration resistance.
