C++: The future programming language for Embedded Systems?

Embedded Software Trainer K. Nieratschker analyzed pro&cons of the programming languages C and C++ in order to allow an objective discussion.

C++ is only rarely used in Embedded Systems, the field is still dominated by the C language. Many C programmers express reservations against C++ and object oriented programming without having a profound C++ knowledge.

The goal of this evening talk is to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of using C++ for Embedded Systems based on solid arguments: Comparing the memory footprint and processing time requirements of C and C++ implementations. This will help us to appraise the applicability of C++ for Embedded Systems in an objective manner.
